About Us

Established in the midst of civil unrest in Newark in 1968, New Community was founded by Monsignor William J. Linder and a small group of civic-minded residents. Since then, New Community has grown into one of the largest and most comprehensive community development corporations in the country. (read more)

Our Impact

In 2013 alone, more than 600 homeless individuals were provided with transitional housing at New Community Harmony House; 3,018 people received food from our emergency food pantry; and 7,300 services were provided to more than 4,200 people at our one-stop Family Resource Success Center.
