When to Vaccinate?
All children and young adults should receive their recommended vaccines according to the schedules approved by the Centers for Disease and Control Prevention
- By the time children are 6, they should have about 10 routine immunizations.
- Infants may get up to five shots during a single visit, including hepatitis, diphtheria, MMR, tetanus, whooping cough, polio, pneumoccal disease, chicken pox and rotavirus.
- Older children, adults and seniors may also need booster shots to sustain their immunity and guard against infecting others.
- Public authorities recommend "herd immunity" with 90% of the community vaccinated against specific diseases and conditions to help protect those who are not immunized.
