Emphasizing a coordinated one-stop service system that provides a wide range of resources for families by providing:

  • Enhanced communication network for non-profits and food pantries in
                     Newark and its surrounding areas.
  • Unlimited access to hunger prevention information.
  • Adequate and substantial resources for disadvantaged families.

 

 

 

The FOCUS Human Services Division provides an array of services to Essex and Hudson County Residents which include adult basic education, employment & training services, senior's services, emergency assistance, and nutrition programs.
To stabilize families and individuals in crisis, especially the working poor, homeless and those in financial need and provide them with financial support and life skills training to live on their own.
We at UCC are dedicated to servicing the Newark community through our comprehensive list of programs developed to address our client’s needs.
In our kitchen, we have hundreds of wonderful volunteers preparing and serving up over 100,000 meals each year. Started back in the mid 1970s, we began serving sandwiches to the few who came to our door. Fast-forward to today and you will find that we serve upwards of 700 hot meals each day. St.
Pierre Toussaint Food Panty has been serving the needy of Newark for the past 23 years. As an emergency food assistance program we offer food assistance at the end of each month to registered clients and of course we respond to emergency situations whenever we are able.
New Community Corporation (NCC) is recognized as one of the largest, most comprehensive community development corporations in the U.S. We have been at the vanguard of providing safe, decent and attractive housing for low-income residents for more than 45 years.
The Apostles’ House Food Pantry is a major resource, which prevents or limits severe hunger in Newark. One of the largest food pantries in Essex County, we served over 8,500 people in 2007 and are one of only a handful open five days per week.
St. James Social Service Corporation is the umbrella organization for the social outreach programs of St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church which is located in the Central Ward of Newark, New Jersey.
